What is a Chaplain?

A chaplain is someone who:

• Supports your spiritual journey
• Creates and holds a sacred space with you
• Listens to you and holds what is heard in confidence
• Can pray with you

We have trained chaplains who would love to pray with you! A chaplain is always available before and after each Sunday service. Look for the prayer chaplain badges to identify chaplains.

We also have a prayer telephone line that is monitored every day. Call 314-845-6936 and leave a message with your name and phone number. We'll call you within 24 hours to pray with you.

It should be noted that the chaplains are not here to provide counseling services. If you would like to talk about an issue, Reverend Randy Schmelig and Reverend Sharon Allmond are available by appointment. Please call the church office at 314-845-8540 to schedule an appointment.

Unity Basics/Prayer Fundamentals Class: The Unity Basics/Prayer Fundamentals Class is a requirement for prayer chaplain candidates. The class is also open to anyone interested to know more about Unity basics and the basics of prayer. Unity Basics includes a little history, our basic teachings, and a bit about First Unity Church. Prayer fundamentals will describe various forms of prayer, focusing on Unity's affirmative prayer.
