I don't know about you, but for me, this time of year
is pretty busy. Maybe it's just that there are now outside
chores to be done too, but it feels like I'm never caught
up! Even now I see a cobweb in a corner of the room
I just cleaned yesterday. The floors downstairs need
to be dusted again (with pets, it's a constant effort
to keep them hair-free), the grass has shot up again,
and I have plants that I want to plant outside. For
those of us who make lists, it's frustrating to cross
something off, then have to put it right back on again!
Our society rewards results, and many of us have grown
up feeling good about what we can accomplish. The more
we accomplish, the better we feel. We are human "doings"
rather than human "beings." Those days that
we call productive are often those when we have accomplished
much. Being able to stand back and survey a finished
effort is great!
However, a different perspective can ward off the frustration
and enhance our enjoyment of the tasks themselves. We
can still enjoy the results, but we don't have to wait
for satisfaction any more. We can still "get 'er
done," but we don't lose any self-respect over
delays or plan changes. That perspective is remembering
that Divine Order is always at work.
When we make Spirit a regular part of our lives, we
are much more aware that we are partnered with a power
for which "all things are possible." We are
more likely to receive and recognize guidance in our
daily decisions. We are better able to trust in God's
timing and let go of our impatient strivings. We trust
that things will get done "in good order."
Our time of communion with God gives us a sense of peace
and well being, regardless of outer circumstances. And,
we know that this is the truth of us.
So, I'll get the grass cut on Thursday, and if not
Thursday, then Friday. I know that all is in Divine
Order!
